How To Fix A Hole In Drywall

By MH SHOSHI

Step 1 – Gather Your Tools

You’ll need: a drywall patch, spackle or joint compound, a putty knife, sandpaper, and paint for touch-up.

Step 2 – Clean the Hole

Use a utility knife to clean up any loose drywall around the edges of the hole. This ensures a smooth repair.

Step 3 – Apply the Patch

For small holes, use a self-adhesive mesh patch. Place it over the hole and press firmly to secure it.

Step 4 – Apply Spackle or Joint Compound

Spread a layer of spackle over the patch using a putty knife. Smooth it out, making sure the edges blend with the surrounding wall.

Step 5 – Sand and Reapply (If Needed)

Once the compound dries, sand it smooth. If necessary, apply another thin coat of spackle and sand again.

Step 6 – Paint the Area

Touch up the repair with matching paint to make it blend seamlessly with the rest of the wall. Your drywall is now good as new!
